North Leamington School

The creation of a new campus of state-of-the-art buildings to house North Leamington School (NLS) was the realisation of a long-term plan to bring students together on to a single site and provide an inspirational setting for 21st-Century learning. Infill walling for the five faculty buildings was provided by Metsec, cold rolled steel specialist and market leader in light gauge, galvanised steel structural framing systems.

The Bridge Academy

Metsec’s SFS (Steel Framing System) has created the framework for a visually stunning new home for The Bridge Academy in the London Borough of Hackney.
The Bridge Academy, which specialises in music and mathematics for 11 – 19 year olds, wanted a flexible space that could be easily modified to adapt to changing needs in the short and the long term, as well as suit community use outside of school hours.

Bucks New University

Bucks New University (BNU), formerly Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, was awarded full University status in 2007. Soon afterwards internationally-renowned architects RMJM were commissioned to design a new learning resources centre, which could house a wide range of activities. Metsec’s SFS (Steel Framing System) was chosen to provide the structural envelope.

Metsec in the frame for urban school

A comprehensive in Streatham, SE London, has gained a unique new sports hall, thanks to a combination of Metsec’s lightweight steel frames and beam, and an innovative building design from Urban Space Management alongside architects SCABAL. USM, main designer and contractor on the project at Dunraven School, specialises in the re-use and revitalisation of existing buildings. USM’s design at Dunraven uses modified shipping containers as mega-building blocks linked by Metsec’s steel framing to create an innovative wall structure, and impressive Metsec lattice trusses supporting the roof on Metsec Z purlins.

Metsec’s SFS speeds build at Haringey Sixth Form Centre

Speed of construction was key to architect Hazle McCormack Young’s decision to use cold rolled steel specialist Metsec’s site fixed Steel Framing System (SFS) in the design of Haringey’s new £28 million Sixth Form Centre. The new college, in London’s famous White Hart Lane, has space for up to 1,200 academic and vocational students, and was funded by the Government’s Building Schools for the Future programme (BSF) together with a £10m contribution from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). In all, Haringey’s BSF programme will see more than £200 million invested in renewing or improving schools in the borough.
